How to prepare a training program ?

A training program is composed of several training sessions which follow one another over a certain period of time.

Determine the age category of your team (beginners, U8, U10, adults, etc...) and the objectives you want to reach.
The objectives will vary from a category to another. There is a logical progression in the development of a soccer player. We don't teach the same things to a U8 team as to a U16 team. Also, if we focus on teaching the fondamental techniques and tactics in the development of youth, the results become the first priority for the adult soccer. Making a training program is determined by the objectives you want to reach.

Once the category and objectives are determined, you have to determine the length of your program, the number of training sessions and the average length of each session.

Depending on the program's length, you may have to modify the objectives and give priorities to some of them. For example, if you prepare a 1 week program with a session a day for U11, you won't have time to work on everything the players have to learn at this age. You will build your program after you select the objectives plus themes.

Space out the time (number of sessions) you want to devote to each objective. This will determine the work cycle of your training program.
A work cycle is determined by one or several objectives ; it is composed of one or several sessions.

Prepare training sessions for each work cycle. Select the exercises corresponding to the objective of the work cycle. Make sure there is a progression in the difficulty of the exercises throughout the work cycle.

Once all your training sessions are prepared, your program is done.
