Tactical games :
|
|
Are called tactical games, games with specific theme, directed games and matches set up in order to to work on a tactical principle of play (i.e. getting open, directing of the play, etc.).
Most of those games need a predeterminated number of players - 4v2, 5v3 keepaway or 4v4 game, etc.
The following two examples give an idea of how to set up the desired tactical games with an "unadapted" number of players, still giving the tactical information and allowing all the players to play.
"Checkergame" :

Checkergame |
|
3v1 keepaway |
Group of 16 players. We want to play the checkergame to work on getting open : 12 players are needed.
Example of adaptation :
Set up a checkergame and a 3v1 keepaway next to it : 12 players play the checkergame animated per the trainer while 4 players play keepaway. Change players regularly to allow each of them to play the checkergame. It allows the trainer to play the game he wants despite a unadapted number of players.
If the number of players is 15, the trainer does as before but takes the place of a player in the checkergame. This allows him to animate the game and the 4 remaining players to still be working on getting open while waiting to join the checkergame.
5v5 game with 6 small goals :
Group of 12 players. We want to play a 5v5 game with 6 small goals : 3 goals to attack and 3 goals to defend on a field wider than longer to work on directing of the play : 10 players are needed.
Example of adaptation :
Play the game 5v5 with 1 sub on each team (R), the subsitute watch the game and listen to the instructions and advice given by the trainer. The information given by the trainer is very important because it explains and gives solutions to the problems encountered in the different game situations. An outside view allows the player to better understand certain difficult situations of play which may be more difficult to see while playing. If there are 13 or 14 players, it is possible to have 2 subs per team, just make sure that you change players regularly and ask subs to pay attention to the game.
Solutions brought in the previous examples are not the only one, the objective is simply to show that there are always ways to adapt the number of players available to the game you want to play.
